  1. AlexSurtees 4. I think this is generally okay as the c3 pawn makes white's development of the knight a little awkward.
  2. AlexSurtees I don't mind capturing on d4 eventually and targetting the backwards pawn
  3. AlexSurtees 5. White has to be a little careful as there is now a threat to capture on f3 and win a pawn on d4 if white recaptures with the queen
  4. AlexSurtees Recapturing with the pawn opens the b file for pressure on the b pawn. My queen doesn't make a great impression on c6.
  5. AlexSurtees 14. Qh2# seemed promising but ultimately lead to nothing, and my queen seems misplaced.
  6. AlexSurtees With two pawns up just make the professional decision
  7. Leverkuhn Wasn't 14...Qh2+ 15.Kf1 Qh1+ 16.Ng1 Bg2 promising though?
  8. Leverkuhn I guess not: 17.Ke2 Bxg1 18.Bf4 and Black can't keep the extra piece
  9. Leverkuhn White has somehow recovered after the opening disaster
  10. Leverkuhn he's probably not worse now
  11. Leverkuhn this pin is dicey
  12. Leverkuhn but he decided he didn't have time to make sure he can escape
  13. Leverkuhn Black doesn't even consider 37...Re7, very surprising
  14. Leverkuhn Now 38.Nc5+ and 39.Rd7 is more than satisfactory
  15. Leverkuhn Now Black can at least activate the knight with 39...Nd6
  16. Leverkuhn I think 39.Rd7 was more precise
  17. Leverkuhn 42.Rd7 now surely
  18. Leverkuhn is White playing to win?
  19. Leverkuhn very dangerous
  20. Leverkuhn 42...f5 43.Nf2 d2!? 44.Ke2 d1=Q+!! -+ is one way it could go wrong
  21. Leverkuhn but 44.Rd7 is still in time there
  22. AlexSurtees errrrrrrr
  23. Leverkuhn oh just 43...Rc1+
  24. Leverkuhn oof
