Hi everyone,

Is there a way to setup email notifications for correspondence chess so that I don't lose on time? I did not find that kind of setting in the Preferences.

There is no option to receive emails for correspondence games. There is no email service for correspondence games due to a lack of infrastructure.

It may be added in the future, but there's no timeline for when this will happen.

Thank you for clarification, Clarkey!

Clarkey, maybe look into a POST service people can link to e.g. Mandrill themselves? or start using Mandrill and hope it doesn't go over the free quota ;).

Glad to find a definitive answer to this. Given how simple an outgoing-only e-mail service is to setup, I hope this can be added soon.

Has anyone added this feature yet - I may have to move to a different website if it is not added :(

This is really needed. It's crazy that there's no email notification for correspondence.

Another two votes here (from my friend and I, who play correspondence chess which bridges a 5 hour time zone change) to set-up email notification for correspondence games.

Try moving over to Game Knot. Good site and you get email notifications

Will try this. Thanks for the suggestion.

What do we need to be done to get email notification. It would help to know the approximate number or average number of moves played to get an idea of how many emails a day might be sent. Some people won't use it but its better to size for the maximum. A couple dedicated SMTP servers might be enough but managing and maintaining them and keeping them off spam lists is undesired overhead. Using a service might be more expensive but less of a headache.
The other thing to think of is layered priority for emails. Correspondence games that are shorter should be bumped to the top of the queue where longer games could afford to wait if the server's backed up.

I would like the option of setting when to receive notifications based on the time remaining on my clock. For example, for a correspondence game with 5 days per move, I would like notifications when I have 2 days, 1 day, then 6 hours remaining on my clock.
