  1. flipiflapi sheeeeeeeet he went offline?

  4. rooooks Go Marcellus!!!
  5. Rematch offer sent
  6. Rematch offer cancelled
  7. marcelluspye I recently had a similar kind of blunder in the 30+30 league. Game was shaping up quite well, I'm never sure what to do in these positions
  8. VicPez I think you had a nagging advantage from the start, though. I was initially received to see 10. Bc4 instead of 10. Bd3, but I ended up
  9. VicPez in trouble regardless.
  10. marcelluspye I had actually thought about 10. Bd3 but I wasn't sure what was going to happen after Bb7 Bxh7 Kh8
  11. marcelluspye I'm up a pawn, but IDK where to put my king or bishop
  12. marcelluspye didn't like my bishop's position on c4 but it wasn't the end oft he world, especially with the pawn structure on the queenside
  13. VicPez I guess the activity is a little bit scary, but you have a really nice compact pawn structure and I think you'd be able to consolidate there
  14. marcelluspye true
  15. marcelluspye my first instinct after Bc4 was that you'd play Qd8, and then I noticed the rook was hanging, similar to the game
  16. marcelluspye it's one of those tactics that happens to you twice a year in blitz/bullet so you don't really think about it
  17. VicPez Yeah. I considered sacrificing the c7 pawn after Qc2, but then I noticed that e7 was hanging. Probably still more favorable than the game.
  18. marcelluspye Yeah the engine recommends Na6 but that's so weird
  19. gborges0727 I think black is doing fine after just Qd6 after Bc4 though
  20. marcelluspye yes that was one of my main candidates for black in that position
  21. VicPez Agreed. Just didn't see the hanging rook.
  22. gborges0727 Yeah it's tricky, I was looking at Qh5 a while myself tbh lol
  23. VicPez All in all, I hadn't seen that 9. Qc2 move before, but it seems like a very powerful way to play with a lot of tricks I wasn't prepared for.
  24. marcelluspye Tbh it seems like it has a lot of tricks I wasn't prepared for either XD
  25. marcelluspye I just thought it was similar to a game I had played OTB that didn't get too crazy until much later
  26. marcelluspye Bd3 was on my radar, but it probably should have been my main move, when I was concerned about it for the standard reasons
  27. VicPez Haha, I'm in the same boat. I had a similar line over the board in my first tournament. Assumed it was just a quiet line.
  28. VicPez I get that impulse, though. With Bd3, you have a pretty clear advantage, but playing the position isn't easy.
