Is Trump Going To Be Replaced By Nikki Haley ?

I wish I could apply a laugh to people’s thumbs down, just to underscore what an effete gesture that is. (Especially after they’ve just deleted their own comment. lol.)

That said, the “good will towards all” evinced by @Noflaps is admirable. I know I should do well to emulate it, rather than fall prey to the temptation to simply sneer back at those who sneered first. For, though it is possible to fight fire with fire — it’s called backburning — it remains the case that two wrongs don’t make a right.

They make a left. ;-)

So far as I can tell, nobody has yet answered if they think my long list of statements in #33 actually turned to to be true.

I wonder why not.

No, actually, I don't wonder at all. It's painful for people to recognize that they might have been successfully misled or even accidentally misinformed, over and over.

Very few people are sufficiently secure to ever consider changing their own crowd-pleasing opinions.

At best, some will just slap on an emoji and convince themselves they replied.

We've all been wrong at times. I am wrong daily about something, I'm sure. But I wish people would work harder to discover what goes on in the world with reference to a much greater diversity of sources. Too many still believe things that have actually been debunked, because none of their usual sources of information effectively inform about that.

A real, substantive reply helps us all learn. I welcome disagreement, and somebody might actually change my mind. It's happened more than once over the years. But merely repeating distorted talking points or slapping on emojis won't do it.

Trump agreed to the debate conditions CHOSEN by the Biden campaign.

He has not backed down from MORE debates using the same debate conditions CHOSEN by the Biden administration.

Do you doubt that? Please do, at least initially, since I could always be mistaken. ACTUALLY CHECK and see -- but you might have to make some effort and check a variety of sources. Because not all sources are likely to make it easy to discover.

Trump goes into politically unfriendly environments. He sits down with the press. He doesn't try to hide, so far as I have seen.

So why would the Democrats try, now, to change the rules for debates? Why would they need to take along "notes" or want to change the "mute the microphone after time runs out" rule that THEY originally wanted ?

Copy and pasted from internet: "The Harris camp, after having already agreed to the CNN rules, asked for a seated debate, with notes..." and "Kamala Harris' campaign is demanding that microphones stay unmuted at the next debate..... It's a break from Joe Biden, who insisted on microphone muting at the June 27 debate."

Why would they need WEEKS between real press conferences and interviews. And why would those interviews NOT be done "solo" and be done "live"?

Copy and pasted from the internet:

"Vice President Kamala Harris has agreed to her first major interview since she became the presumptive Democratic nominee for president five weeks ago..... Ms. Harris will appear on CNN alongside her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, for a joint interview..."

"CNN plans to tape the joint appearance...."

Sure, live interviews can't be edited and "touched up" later, to get rid of moments the interviewee doesn't want to show. ISN'T THAT THE POINT of doing a live interview.? Live interviews can't be "produced" and "corrected."

If you find that I'm misinformed about the current state of anyone's views or demands, past or present, I'd gladly read a factual, informed, corrective post. I try to stay up to date about what's going on. That seems more important now than ever before in my lifetime. There are a lot of real problems now that need intelligent, earnest, and practical solutions.

Needless to say, I don't agree with Trump about everything. I wouldn't cut taxes, for example, and I'd even favor raising rates a bit.

But now the other side apparently goes along, with a few embellishments, with his basic tax-cutting idea (about potentially not taxing tips) anyway, and apparently now even wants to go much further and give away a lot more freebies that the nation arguably can't afford, given its already huge national debt.

But even though Trump was not my first choice at the beginning of the political season, I have become genuinely tired of game-playing, spin and mischaracterization of positions. Try to NOTICE and WONDER ABOUT "flip-flopping" when it happens. And at least first LISTEN to somebody's own words before letting somebody else tell you what that somebody "thinks" or "believes" or "says" or "would do."

That's why I say: don't just rely on what I write, either: at least initially doubt it and do your own REAL checking if you hope to gain truth and understanding. I strive to be accurate, but I can become misinformed at times, too, no doubt.

And if you don't even know when flip-flopping happens, perhaps consider getting more genuine diversity in the sources you use to obtain news.

Too many people now seem to have little idea of what's going on around them, because they watch, listen to or read from nothing but the same sources, over and over and over. And that's true of people on BOTH sides of the aisle.

We need citizens to be GENUINELY independent and objective and fair, and to not just nod along with storytelling and spin. The world already has enough starstruck fans.

And I am nervous, rightly I believe, about any candidate that needs to go into taped interviews with a buddy or needs to take note cards into a debate. If you want to tell me why I'm wrong, i wouldn't try to discourage you.

I value free expression, even by those who disagree with me.

Oh, and incidentally: hasn't Nickey Hailey now endorsed Trump? I believe so.

Thats a bit long D:

Yes, it's a bit long. So was War and Peace.

But at least with the Tolstoy, I believe CliffsNotes are available, right? So, Tolstoy surpasses me yet again! Even though he's dead!

Unfortunately, Noflaps posts aren't honored with CliffsNotes. So, I guess my posts won't be read by everybody.

I'll try to live with the disappointment.

Wait, maybe I can condense it into a slogan!

**** The Best Leaders Don't Need To Change Rules To Help Them Cope With Difficult Things! *****

Is that better? Or is that still just a bit too long. Admittedly, it's still too long even to be a bumper sticker. Unfortunately, my powers are limited.

At least the slogan doesn't burden anybody with pesky supporting quotations, I guess.

Wow, that settles it, @ThunderClap ! No need to reply to, or even ponder, the actual substance of my posts, just imply that Elizabeth Warren, that paragon of truth, disagrees with me.
