Invisible Pieces: Women in Chess

Thank you for this article. I know and hope that Lichess is trying to be a progressive place, and I hope this will stay our goal and we do all we can to reach it. Just skimming the posts on here I have the feeling that some of the ones opposing the article are simply open hate speech and I hope mods will take care of that.
@DrHack "WTF is lichess doing allowing this to be posted on their blog?"

There has been a misunderstanding. We did not simply allow this post, we welcomed the idea, actively encouraged the author and helped them write it (although they did not need much help).

Lichess as a whole stands behind that post, and if you feel this is wrong, you're welcome to go elsewhere.
Great article! Sociologicaly flawless and... very important for this sexist community
I just want to add that not all FMs are as narrow-minded as those who have posted here so far. I think it's a great blog post pointing out real issues that us men are often not even aware of, mostly because we don't face these issues, and it's sad to read some of the comments here.
There was an interesting article on this topic on ChessBase here: en.chessbase.com/post/explaining-male-predominance-in-chess

He published a paper on the topic that's available here: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S019188691400261X

It's Elsevier'd but that can be resolved as usual: sci-hub.se/

It's quite relevant as it's specifically about chess and testing the hypothesis that social factors alone provide an explanation for performance differences.

My only opinion is that I feel like in society today so often we pick a side on one issue and then simply find evidence to support our prejudice. It's both a blessing and a curse of the internet that that is now extremely easy to do.

What we ought strive to do on any topic where we hope to formulate an opinion is to instead go in the opposite direction: Evaluate the argument for "X" by a reputable individual who concludes that it is the most probable. And then evaluate the argument for "Y" by a reputable individual who concludes that is most probable. And decide which you find most compelling.
Amazing how the ideas of equality and non-sexism can generate such hate in the comments.
How can anyone justify being against either of those things?
@ruzgar9543 men are NOW superior in chess, as in the 100 top players there is only one female and she is the 80th something. If misoginy is the problem, we should look to countries where the cultural differences has been minimized, like Sweden, and see if women are better chess players there.
