not enough information for this statement, what would be good is to explain what are the opening that refutes e4 ???

@Dragon_Emperor_9774 Eric is also an international master so I think he would be ok playing unsound openings against most people.

Fischer, Kasparov and God (according to Fischer) all plays e4 so at least that time it was not refuteterred.
