Hello,
Not sure how complicated it is from programming standpoint, but I'd like to request 2 different tournament formats. The first one is common, swiss tournament with x amount of rounds. The second one would be more tricky, single/double elimination in match format. A while ago I streamed and hosted a tournament on lichess using challonge as support, but it makes it harder for others to view the tournament if they do not want to watch any streams. My idea was players are seeded using their respective ratings, they play 2 games of a given time control, if none of them wins, they play a sudden death with black draw odds (specifics on how big of a time edge white should have can be discussed further). In any case I understand that making a feature like this would require a lot of effort, so I thought maybe we could start with a non-editable feature like weekly cup or sth where it is a single elimination tournament in a format like that. The downside of this format is obviously that people cannot late-join and most of the players get knocked out quickly, however from a viewer standpoint I think it is much more exciting to watch top 2 players battle it out in a fair format. If that was implemented I'd be very interested in streaming an event like that. Time control could be 5+1 and 2+1 vs 3+1 in armageddon part. Each round would take approximately 30 minutes so with 64 players it might take up to 3 hours (maybe limit the entry to top 64 seeds?). Of course some people might like it much more with bullet settings (1+1 normal, 3/4+1 vs 1+1 in armageddon), then the rounds would be much shorter and more people could enter. In any case let me know what you guys think.
