Nations like Portugal have dramatically reduced their drug abuse problems by decriminalizing drug use and shifting to treatment. America has the worst drug addiction epidemic in the developed world because it's a shithole that clings to outdated laws and enforcement methods because boomers care more about 'being tough' and maintaining underclasses that it's okay for them to hate and feel good about themselves than they do about facts and pursuing what's proven to work.

@Osakallaby Unity is a joke. America has only ever been unified when the nation has found itself needing to kill Germans or brown people. America will be 'unified' when the wrongs of Reconstruction are set right and the right-wing political tradition that goes back to the Confederacy is extinguished.

dafuq is wrong with you ppl... there is a vast majority of PEACEFUL protest going on. yet you cannot stop pointing out "rioting and looting".

@KillerKween , then play chess. Noone is making you be part of the conversation, if you're okay with the view that silence is complicit and don't mind being complicit, in the end it is only you who really has to live with that.

There is too much hate in the world. So much anger. People are trying to yank your chain to donate to their cause or vote their way. Anger sells. Anger is a tool for political purposes on both sides. There is so much propaganda going on, I am pretty sure that global chess is being played by others. Sad to see so many pawns. Don't believe the hype. People are hyping up rare issues that fit their agenda. Please don't blindly follow these agendas. And check multiple sources. The echo chambers are real on both sides. What we need is more coming together and less division. I fear we are irreparably torn. Unlike chess, life doesn't have to be adversarial. The issues are real. Often they are just not as real as you think they are and used to pull you in other directions.

@Chillkroete77 The reason your news article was not a good source was because the author cherry picked out the data to fit their narrative. If instead you had given the source they used as your source it would have been better. Now I had no problems with the study itself It seemed well done except for the population they choose for the study was not very representative of the US. It was like 85% white and only between ages 33 and 41. Finally it only lightly supports your case. The conclusion of that article is that IQ is only weakly correlated with monetary success. Now it would have been a strong source if it found no or negative correlation.

Your second article (#445) is actually a good research paper however it does not strengthen your case. Because my point is IQ predicts your income NOT that the IQ measurement itself is a good predictor of your actually intelligence. To make a comparison IQ is like MPG on a car it won't tell you how much fuel you will use on a trip cause your cars MPG is always changing but it will get you pretty damn close. I agree with it that IQ is not an exact number, since on the day of the test you could be absent minded or anything other thing.

Since IQ is not the most accurate number we have maybe if it was more accurate then it would have a much higher correlation than .30 with income.

Yeah, giving the news article as a source was lazy. But the paper about "Which IQ" does support my case. If you are not able to reliably measure IQ and if it isn't possible to express intelligence in one number (which is what IQ was intended for), correlations between IQ and income are meaningless.
