Leaving without resigning

Dear mods, I will cease using "rude" language when you do something about people incessantly displaying bad etiquette. People leaving games without resigning is something that happens every single day. Is anything ever done about it? "You may claim victory in 74 seconds..." Drives me insane.

When you understand that they left the game in a fit of rage, and master the ability to feel their pain while the clock ticks down, it won't bother you at all.

Just block them if they resign by leaving, that way you won't be matched to play them again - except for tournaments.

The countdown exists so if you lose your connection, you have some time to reinstate it. Don't be too annoyed.

Here's something I found: https://lichess.org/faq#leaving
I cite: “If your opponent frequently aborts/leaves games, they get "play banned", which means they're temporarily banned from playing games. This is not publicly indicated on their profile. If this behavior continues, the length of the playban increases - and prolonged behavior of this nature may lead to account closure.”

So the OP won't stop being a jerk until everybody else does! Great.

@fidd
Oh! So for that the user has to play a specific opponent multiple times and if the opponent leave the games, then they would be temporarily banned from playing, since the rule is for an individual player.

Nope! It means that if any player repeatedly aborts or leaves games they risk a playban, and if they keep it up, a permanent ban.
