I have seen some people claiming that a 1700 rated lichess player is actually equal to a 1500 rated chess.com player. Is this true?
my rating chess.com rating is around 1700-1800 ,with only 20 games
@agnivo2008 but you will still have to prove that you can actually reach 2000+ on chess.com. As you are already a 2000+ rated player, 20 games are enough for you to reach 1700 on chess.com. Good Luck.
Good idea is to search the forum before posting. This topic or some related comes up at least once a week

I give a hint : ratings are relative!

Lichess overrate a bit, and chess.com underrate.
I read somwhere something like 1500 FIDE is 1400 Chess.com and 1700 lichess. If all your ratings correspond to your actual level.
It's not exact for all the ratings, for exemple, some Grandmasters are 3000 or over on chess.com or lichess, and 2700 FIDE (because they can play rated games more often on chess.com and RD are not the same).
The difference of ratings is also due to the fact that the average rating on lichess is 1500 and chess.com is 1000.
And it's linked to the fact that the first rating you get on lichess is 1500, and on chess.com, it depend of the level you say you have when you regsiter (you can start at 800, 1500, 2000, or over).

In chess.com i mostly played with lower raters so that's why my rating is around 1800 and my rating is around 1200
Fide rating 1200
@agnivo2008 yes, you're a Kid, that explains why 1200 FIDE.
Kids starts low rated and are strong, but it takes time to get the rating.
Many 1200 FIDE kid I know are equal 1600-1700 Fide Adult (who are rated 2000 on lichess).
I don't know how it works in India, and how strong are the payers in tournaments, but in France, that's valuable, if you're 2100 rapid on lichess, you can expect 1800 rapid FIDE.

yes you are right
Well, I will say this, I am a 2100 in blitz bullet and rapid on lichess but my FIDE rating is 1341. I feel that chess.com overrates a player by 400 points but lichess overrates by 200 or max 300 points. At least what I believe from experience. I have been using both sites for almost 3 years.
