Now, my friend who doesn't even play chess pointed this out to me. All he knows is that the pawn can be promoted to anything except a king. So, the pawn must be female since it can be promoted to a queen and not a king. And the bishops, knights, and rooks must also be female since the pawn can promote into them too. Feel free to argue against this!
If we suppose that gender is defined by the ability to reproduce via getting pregnant or being able to cause pregnancy, then what happens after the race to deliver mate to the opposing king? Does the mating piece get to have kids with the opposing king? Are the kids mixed race = half white / half black?
pawns grow uo not reproduce

The rook cannot be female, as it is a stone structure. It is not a living being like a Knight.

A pawn promotion can be like a pawn growing up - i can see that. Yet, the main purpose of chess is to go after checkmate. Whether a pawn itself delivers checkmate, a promoted pawn after "growing up" delivers checkmate, or another non-king piece delivers checkmate- the fact is the king has been checkmated. And in that checkmate sequence, how is the mating piece, or mating pieces if 2 were involved, not getting pregnant when the king cant escape out of it? Was piece protection used - contraception? Therefore, once a mating web is inescapable, the opposing king has 2 choices to resign and accept its fate or be mated by the female piece or pieces where theres a chance that a half white / half black chess piece might be birthed come into existence in from having mated the opposing king.

Checkmate is a position with the threat of inescapable capture. I dont think their after his life, per say but the actual check mating experience.
