Your friend should definitely know the Scholar's Mate, but you should *not* teach them to play it. They need to know it and how to defend against it, because others will try it against them, but they should definitely not play it. Even if it works at a lower level, it will discourage growth and encourage bad opening habits. You could teach them the Fool's Mate, but that's less important since they're not going to get Fool's Mated if you teach them good opening principles.

You could teach them system openings like the London System, but the most important thing is that they understand opening principles. If you do teach them an opening, make sure they understand why the moves are being played. I suggest you explain to them the opening principles, and perhaps have them start with e4 or d4, and see where it goes from there.

And of course, that's just for the openings. For beginners, the most important thing is just not hanging pieces. Doing puzzles and playing and analyzing games will help with that.
White: e4
Black vs e4/e5, vs d4/d5 - queens gambit declined
I'm not going to teach him sicilienne and ruy lopez,it's too complicated for a person who is starting their requires a lot of theory and practice,I think that for White: d4-Nf3-e3-Be2-O-O it is quite simple to arrive at castling and against e4 the philidor
I would recommend you go with the classic, the italian game
but I would not recommend you try to teach him c3 and d4,
just go with the simple e4 nf3 bc4 nc3. its simple and understandble, even if not good at higher levels, it will make it easier for him to learn some c3 d4 or pianissimo in the future
