b4 is also good at restricting knight b8 activity. For example, Nc6-b4 jump is impossible. This might not matter in this particular opening, but it comes in handy in a very similar opening that was favorite of me at some point (sallarmelli opening): 1. Nh3 h6 2. e3 e6 3. b4

E3 b4 is a good example of: equal opening eval, but with alot ideias, the diagonal attacks and the pieces combination are verry strong

The idea of 1.e3 b4 is a really awesome one , it really opens many ideas for white giving it early advantages in the game , this opening of Sir Jake is the reason I started playing 1.b4 , thanks a lot for that :)
