The house

discord.gg/x2MfjHD is the link of the discord server which improved my crazyhouse and bughouse strength so terribly much and I made a lot of friends there! If you want to improve any variant - even normal chess - you should join this server and add yourself to some variant channels as explained in #role-assignment. You can send a private message to me for further explanation about this discord channel if you want. Join this great server!
According to my experience, the Atomic section is a) too empty
b) I'm in a very bad timezone.
That's no problem! we have people from all over the world! and otherwise you'll get answers next day. It's very empty now because we dont have much members yet, thats also why it would be great to get more people!

@savagechess2k It's true that #atomic-channel lacks activity compared to more active channels like crazyhouse or bughouse. As they say "be the change you want to see", you can help us to build more active atomic community. Invite your atomic buddies and let's discuss it together.

I personally didn't play atomic, only just recently found some charm in it. I've been doing puzzle at chessvariants.training/Puzzle/Atomic and posting some of them at #atomic.
Man, probably most of the community is Americans, I'm in GMT +3 Timezone. Noone is active when I'm active.
In my experience most of us are European - even #zh and #bug are usually dead at night.
If we get more people to join - since we have only like 100 members right now - It will get crowded eventually :-)
@Simba7

From what I've researched, Dischord is the best chat server out there. A great community. The patrons seem quite happy with the service.

Starting a thread, promoting the site is more than OK by me. You seem to be upfront in representing the site for what it is and answering questions. Now for some negative feedback.

Quite a few Dischord members are promoting the site here and are not being totally upfront. This is my opinion. It discourages me from possibly joining when the promotion is at times misleading., when Dischord members jump into threads and answer questions about lichess with "join the official chess variant server" to answer lichess members questions about lichess with join Dischord for that answer.I was given several answers that led me to believe chess games were actually played there.

The different sign on links, invite pages that reward members with "Flowers", that the site in the future will be charging members a fee for premium services should be honestly explained, instead of being met with denials. Anyways, good luck with the site. It seems to be doing quite well and growing fast. Consider "truth in advertising" might serve better in the long run than simply getting people to click on the website and find out an App needs downloading to take advantage of most services.

Er, you can use discord online, too... there's no need to download any kind of app :)
discordapp.com/invite/x2MfjHD

The link provided by many Discord members (a distinct, personal "invite link" that rewards members with "Flowers" based on sign-ups) directs you to discordapp.com where it asks new members to download an app. True, a little research reveals the app is not necessary, but is needed to access some features. Anyways, the invite page provided does not explain details, asks to create an account along with a download. I did not see where it explained it was not necessary from the sign up page. The point is, the links do not direct new potential patrons to a home page where they can review the site and what is being offered. We get directed straight away to an account sign-up and download page, without having an opportunity to see what the site is all about. To me, this is somewhat deceptive, especially when the "invite links" are a promotional campaign that reward Discord members with "Flowers" that are used for gambling on internet games. I think the site is great. Reviews say it is the best one of it's type out there. However, I was "fooled" by several claims made by promoters here, had to do my own research to find what the site is all about. Also, This thread is great ! The OP started a thread and offers to answer questions. Interrupting threads with advertisements is what I disagree with.
