Hey! What happened to Atomic? Part #2 The Empire's End

If I remember right, Linetester was an alternate account for NeverGonnaBerserk. He was active some years ago - my main impression of him was that he was always well prepared in the opening (armed with cutting edge engine analysis), but once/if you got out of the opening stage his practical level wasn't as high as the best players.

A long time ago, there was also TheAtomicDarkSide, but he closed his account. He had reached 2700, if I remember correctly, and he was a very strong player in my memory. Here is one of his games

against another big player who had been banned (@micuentatmr). At the time, I believe he protested the decision and claimed he was innocent. I'll let you make up your own mind on that point ; ) His account is interesting in that it leaves a trace of many of these former players.

I believe there are others on different chess domains that also reach very high. Also in case you didn’t notice, NoZ was banned a few days ago for boosting and cheating so comparing to him doesn’t really work any more :(.

Liked your blog once again, @MarcotheTiger . And yes, Tipau's got a point. Linetester was an alt of ngb. He actually created more than that but he raged and closed some of them as I know. @micuentatmr was a mid-game engine user (he confessed before) also had accounts named ''javika, javika1, musaliya'' who reached 3000 rating and came forward with his games against @arka50 . @chronatog who is a respectable player, was the organizer of AWC and many more events before @howlind . @theatomicdarkside was an alt but I don't know who (for now). Probably TLA or vannto. @Xanify was one of the strongest ones who also played in the peak era of @vlad_00 and @sutcunuri. These 3 were dominating the leaderboard unless @fast-tsunami wasn't there. @wolfram_ep told that he was banned because of playing way ''too perfect''. He also has a youtube channel under the same but not active for past 4 years. His memory is still living under the team named ''Xanify's World''. @Camisapricity was above an average player but not that close to the legends we counted. He was playing actively between years of 2021-2023 and has some respectable achievements like top 10 in AWC 2022. @stephenhello (aka @byebyestephen, aka @wherefore (?) ) was also strong and raced in AWC 2021. You may have seen him at hourly arenas or on chat with gannet while top players were playing. I don't know who @learningvariants or @hidas is. I think, @learningvariants was just an ordinary and good player.
These are some of the good ones and nice job brightening the past for a bit. There are many more players like these you can make the topic of. Good luck finding them.

There was a rating inflation back then. Winner got more points in games and the question mark (?) used to disappear lately (I guess). But people created alts and stole the rating away from the higher rateds and there was no refund when they get banned. At some point as I remembered, Lichess brought a regulation for atomic ratings and everybody used to have lower than years before. Not a big deal but made ratings like 2700-2800-2900 unreachable now. Its kinda better now bcz it makes them remarkable.
