I saw a puzzle in a newspaper. It says there's mate in 2 but I can't find it.
http://es.lichess.org/petXbWrQVdmHI forgot to mention it's white to move. meybe it's evident, maybe it's not.
- Qe7
If Rxe7 or Qxe7:
- Rc4
If Kd4:
- Knightf3
Else:
Qh4
If after Qe7, black moves their queen from that diagonal:
- Rxc4
Tried it even against Stockfish level 8.
Qe7 is the winning move.
After that it's mate in one. Making it overall a mate in two.
Thanks! I just didn't consider Qe7 because I'd definitely take the queen if I was playing black. (Now I wouldn't.)
Yeah, 1.Qe7!! is the key, threatening Qh4# or Rxc4# if Black's Q leaves the a2-g8 diagonal. And as well 1...Kd4 2.Nf3/Nxf7#.
Btw, do you have the source(Who composed it, where and when it has been published) for this puzzle?
