Well, once I had a old laptop that's actually older than me (from 2008). One day, a bunch of keys just stopped working, and I couldn't even type in the password.
Then, we just bought a new keyboard. It was not a replacement, (from Amazon, I think?) and was just an attachment. I simply attached it to the USB port, and it just worked!
Maybe you don't even need a replacement, though I'm just speculating. I don't know whether this works on different laptops or what. Mine was an HP. It might mean that you won't be able to use a mouse, but I think it's worth it if you save a couple hundred bucks!
