Dogs, cats or rabbits?

Dogs and cats are the clear favorites, even though bunnies are cute.

I suspect that dogs will win any plebiscite. But cats will be favored by a strong minority. Especially by those whose current living situation makes a dog a difficult guest. Cats are, after all, relatively low maintenance.

I'll start off the voting by voting for dogs. Indeed, for one dog in particular. A crazy old spaniel that packs a tiny tail (not his fault: some breeder refused to depart from tradition, long ago).

The dog has huge ears, covered with curly hair. He never sheds. He sleeps a lot. Indeed, we seem to share several such similarities. But we are not identical. The dog sometimes barks for no apparent reason, while I try not to bark at all.

There are times when I suspect that a cat would be nice. Cats tend to do their business in a rather neater and more organized way. But, on the other hand, a cat can actually catch a squirrel -- while my spaniel has repeatedly demonstrated that squirrels can elude him easily.

That's another point for the spaniel, since I don't wish squirrels to be caught. Squirrels rock, even if they prove a bit expensive to feed.

How about: rooster vs boa constrictor?

A rooster waking me up at the crack of dawn? I'd rather take my chances with the boa.

I'd choose the velociraptor -- I can't afford to feed a croc, and I'd never have to feed a velociraptor, since it could only be a fossil.

And fossils don't eat.

Or at least they don't eat much. A bit of jello, perhaps. A bit of potato. Part of a pork chop, perhaps, but not a whole, big pork chop.
