is a queen worth 9 or 10 points?

Some authors say that she is worth 10, others 9. or some engines use another value between. Feel free to pick one...
The points doesn't matter, it only gives beginners about a concept about how we can exchange pieces. There're many doubts about this questions. But you should consider the following version:

Pawn(P) 1 Point.
Knight(N) 3 Points.
Bishop(B) 3.5 Points [Sometimes 2.5 points due to closed lines, at that time, knight is better than Bishop.]
Rook(R) 4.5 Points [Sometimes 5 points due to another version.]
Queen(Q) 9 Points [Sometimes 10 points because to prove that the queen is a strong as the two rooks.]
King(K) Useless [When Endgame, the king can do big contributions, when that happens, the king is as same as rook!]

@WildTreeNymph . How can you say king is useless! . It's worth infinity . Because when you lose it you lose the game.

Interesting.

If u give two humans a theoretical endgame where one has three knights and the other has a queen to people above 1800 lichess i’d say the 3 knights would win 90% of the time. But it’s AlphaZero so...
sometimes it is only worth the pawn it sacrifices itself for in order to deliver mate. what is that value?

No I don't mean it's useless I mean it cannot charge any pieces so it's... not able to convert. But King is still powerful, one famous game showed that the King move from g1-h6! In the middle of the middle game! Right there there're two rooks a queen and a Bishop! If it isn't the King, white won't win! So That's why I quote the following about King in the endgame.

how much is a pawn *alphazero
Chess Piece Values
It should come as no surprise that the piece values are directly tied to a piece's strength. A pawn is worth one point, a knight or bishop is worth three points, a rook is worth five points and a queen is worth nine points. The king is the only piece that doesn't have a point value.

i found this on google

Well, I was taught that king as infinite points
And in antichess, or in any Variant the Kings value is 0

The whole set of tables given above is based on the assumption: 1 pawn = 1

There are even numbers for the relative strength of a King.

See the Wikipedia link, it contains everything.
