How does cheating make the game fun? I'm glad I don't understand, chess would be 500% less fun if I cheated.

Some people play very fast and very good with about 1500 points, sometimes really remarkable.

I don't think I see many cheaters. I've had one person let a 20 minute clock count down because I was winning. That was years ago. I switched to 10 minute and never had a problem since. Well, 2 minute count down, but boo hoo. Also years ago, on chess.com, someone checkmated me in the opening with an unusual and very efficient attack, each move 10 seconds. I suspected an engine. Never again since. Also one person told me off for not resigning.

99% of my games are fair. If soneone uses an engine, that is more training more me. I often play against the analysis engine after puzzles anyway.

How the hell do they control my pieces, is the main question ?
I would think in this day and age that they could stop people from manipulating the main program. This isn't 1999 and Yahoo Games !

@triglyceride cheating exists at all speeds, even bullet (auto-chessbot). Feel free to report whenever you think something is odd.

Lichess has so many good tutorials and puzzles. You can greatly improve your rating if you use them. Very great site. I would not judge it off a few cheaters.

You would think so, but explain how on the opening move I played E4, then he played E5 but my pawn was back on E2 and my G pawn was moved to G4. . . . . . . I thought odd glitch but I decided to play on and defended the pawn with H3, he then played D5 and my H pawn was back on H2 and B4 was played instead ? I watched it happen, so it isn't impossible !

I've been on here for over 7 years and always maintained 1775 to 1800 rating but the last few days many odd things have been going on. I know I didn't suddenly become an idiot and forgot how to play chess to just watch my rating fall to 1650 now . . . . . . . No way in hell after 45 years of playing that I am now a chess dolt ! ! ! ! ! !

Yes, it is. They use a sort of software that highlights the next best square. They can decide whether to play it or not. At the end of the game, they have committed some blunders (on purpose), but they always find the right path to win. And if they're running out of time, they put the software to play on its own. Cheaters are everywhere, here and on many other servers, including chess.com. Online chess is doomed, as there're lots of people who think chess is a video game, and they can hack it as they hack others. Don't bother looking for another server, all of them are corrupted.
