I've created many Chess Variants. AMA.

@mdinnerspace

You once wrote about chess in which they played in so-called "bowling rooms". Tell about it. One of the parties has two moves as soon as I remember.
You know a lot about those aspects of the game that interest fanatics of variants.
One aspect of Monster Chess not mentioned in the wiki link, is that the White King can Checkmate, capture Blacks King the same way as the pawns. Without this rule, it is too easy for Black. With best play, I think Black wins. But it takes alot of practice and losing many games to White's Monster.

Friends? Sorry. I don't travel down that road, being the internet and all. Not in the least bit paranoid, but I just decline to open that door. There are other means of contact, besides the public posting of "followers" (lichess term for friends.) Eventually it takes up too much time answering complete strangers.

For example, friends are made through playing games. A chat window is open. I am following nobody and block others from following me. Just the way I like it. But that's just me. An old stick in the mud ;-) I can always find anybody and they can find me if a matter of import arises.

Wow, very cool. Have not a clue how this was accomplished, editing wiki, but it clarifies the variant to make it a fun game.
The variant exemplifies the power of having the move in hand. With only 4 pawns, White can hold off Blacks entire army, and create an attack that requires a good deal of skill to repulse.

Versus most any player, I'd choose White. Knowing Whites strategies, I'd choose Black for the very long haul. But this is what chess is about... No?
@mdinnerspace I think we all enjoy variants and Monster Chess seems interesting. I tend to what equilibrium in my variants, but I'm amazed at variants like this one and Hoard where there has been found a reasonable balance between such completely unequal appearing sides.
Fischerandom is a better name for the game he invented. He was very proud of it. We should honor him for what he did for chess.
Start a petition to have lichess use the proper name? :D
