ChessX with Stockfish is what I personally use. There is no lichess-like automated blunder detection but it's pretty straightforward to see if you just turn the engine on."

Straightforward? ChessX exemplifies exactly what I am NOT looking for. At the least it needs to show a graph of evaluation(move). Fail.

LucasChess has some nice features similar to lichess, e.g. an equivalent of lichess' "learn from your mistakes" by turning blunders into puzzles to solve, etc. Comes with a bunch of different engines, and you can add your own."

But you have to have python installed. Thanks but I'll pass.

ChessBase is best. Meanwhile the auto-analysis should work fine. In order to search and organize our chess content you won’t find anything better. There’s practically no good player who doesn’t use CB.

I have been using it for say 30 years."

There is an online version and a downloadable version. I tried the online version. Fails in all respects of what I said I was looking for.

The downloadable version requires Windows 7+ so it doesn't work for me. That's the whole problem. They specifically altered lichess to NOT work with Windows XP anymore. I want something that supplies blunder analysis or evaluation(move) plots for Windows XP.

ChessBase is probably the best BUT assuming you are not a good player and dont like investing on tools then the SCId and offshoots are decent option http://scid.sourceforge.net/ has served me well enough. Pretty sure searches for particular end games etc. is somewhat better but not an issue for me. In case you want read books in chessbase format (I do) then chessbase free will do. SCID comes with stockfish and obviously can connect to whatever chess engine you have on your computer.

Oh and as offtopic: no chess book ever has had any impact on play skills."

Does Scid vs PC (which I assume is similar to Scid) give blunder analysis? It seems like all the others. No graph of evaluation(move). Fail?

For engine games i'd use cutechess gui over fritz."

I tried cutechess 1.0. It downloaded, but it can't run on windows xp.
@jasontaylor7 I've only used SCID not the other BUT in thing it has. On scid when launch analyse game I ger dialog with plenty of options. One them is shoudl mark move when it deviates more xxx pawns from best move. I thing default is 0.1 which is not really good but it is a settign.
