Why is Hikaru Nakamura not playing in the Candidates Tournament. Also, Hikaru is definitely weaker than other Super GMs so why do people worship him so much?
Naka is worshipped because he just casually happens to be the #1 blitz player in the world (FIDE rating list) and most streaming contains blitz content not classical/slow chess anyways so he is not weaker than other GMs at this format.
In reality he is basically the strongest in the world except for maybe a couple people.
He also used to be ranked in the top 5 classical players as well.
He isn't playing the candidates because he didn't meet the qualification requirements. He didn't have a high enough rating and failed to perform well enough in the Grand Prix, World Cup or win the Grand Swiss.
