Lost Winning Engame - Please Help

Fast forward to the endgame. Rook and pawn vs Rook i couldn't break through. What should I be learning. I thought it would be a draw and then i blundered.

I am pretty sure that since the start of the endgame it was all drawn. Also, you lost the drawn endgame because you just blundered a rook.

Thanks for your feedback. So, are those endgame usually drawn or is there a way to win. I realize my blunder but i was trying to figure out a way of winning. Lost concentration

its drawn... perhaps if your opponet doesnt play good you can win, but your opponet played good and its drawn

This particular Rook + Pawn vs Rook endgame is a theoretical draw, look up "Philidor's Position".

Move 25, you exchange a bad bishop for a good knight. There is a chance that the knight might be trapped, but this exchange is a slight inaccuracy. Later you exchange a healthy b-pawn for a sickly a-pawn.

The correct plan was to:
push your pawns to b3 and c4 so they are easier to protect. (It would be best if you could get c and d pawns vs. the a pawn.)
move a rook to the e-file to restrict black's king or force the exchange of rooks.
move your king to your strong side--the one with your extra pawn.
(General rule-of-thumb is to exchange pieces but not pawns.)
This still may not be enough to win, but it greatly increases your chances to win.

According to TB, the endgame was actually winning if you would have played Rh7 before taking on d7 : this forces Kg8 and then Rcxd7. All in subtleties.

To me, moves 44 to 47 are crucial. You are a solid pawn up and Rd8+ is given on move 44. I don't know whether it's good or bad, but it (i) lets enemy king come out and roam, and (ii) theory says don't give check just because you can. Think what purpose check serves. And your Rd8+ hardly serves any good purpose.
Why then play Rd7, which restricts enemy king to stay in your territory! Rg8+ (which also saves you from check) would have brought him home and then you could have saved the d-pawn. Ke3?? drops g-pawn (and loses games), but opponent doesn't notice it.
..48 Kg5 and black has the opposition. You should have gone for Rg8+ calling him back home. ..Rd1?? again he misses your free pawn. See that your king is tied to defense of a pawn, but king movement will cost you a pawn.
from move 53, game is drawn, however, white should be able to win, being a pawn up. after ..Rd6, best way is to go Ra/b5 threatening Ra/b7+ which forces black to play ..Rg6+ and white can hope to enter +. Kh5 IS a bad move.
62. why not Ke5, taking opposition, followed by Ke6..

I have some games in similar endgames, but such positions are highly taxing and rewarding at the same time. One has to observe everything. You played a good game, but failed to maintain initiative for long which cost you the game.
