Why are there so many speed demons here?

I'm seeing alot of people who just play fast irrespective of position in 5 0 blitz. Is there any reason for it?
Probably due to time pressure, your opponent then making blunders as a result. But also, probably to put pressure on you the opponent, making you feel like he is confident etc....

I dunno, I'm kind of new to chess haha
Yeah I understand reasons for time pressure generally. This site just seems to prefer it more than other sites.

The amount of lost positions people are getting with 80-90% of time left is amazing.
Probably folks thinking that they know an opening better than they really do as well.
I believe it depends on the fact that many players spend an hour from the blitz at 5 minutes for a bullet at 2 minutes bullet 1 minute blitz 3 minutes .... in the end they completely lose the sense of time on the clock :)
The chessbrahs, cool guys in general and I really like Eric and Aman, have had a disastrous influence on this site. And a nonsense like 15 sec chess should never have been introduced.
People will play how they like to play and that is alright :)
Indeed, I noticed that. @SparkyMarky, you’re dead on right. :) Actually it‘s the same at other places like playchess. I have to apologize for the following in advance I might sound badass harsh.

Yeah, lots of fellows play a lot of crap, the only focus is on „speed“. No“theory“, hope-chess (coffee-house style), pre-moving tricks, bad quality.

As far as I am concerned I try to install quality chess and practicing for my otb encounters. Playing on the iPhone is not optimal so I am used to lose those time scrambles. So what, I got over lichess monopoly numbers. I’d like to practice online so I have no other chance to join this circus.

One example, sry to my opponent that he played exactly that one game his morning against me to become the textbook example. Rated >2000 rubber points, actually quick, but playing like a noob in my opinion.

And this site is full of them.
