Why "claim draw" option if the opponent abandons? Who will claim draw when they can "claim victory"?

The thread title is self-explanatory.

I know it's a very silly question, but I have often wondered.
Same as BlotterFan. I've claimed a draw when it was a rook vs. rook endgame, but never again. Once before, never the same

I would draw if we had a really great game and I think many people would I have done it many times but when the game is normal or I am winning by a lot then I claim victory
I've done it when it's an equal position and the person got obviously disconnected due to internet issues.
Remember, a rating is a rating -- a computerized estimate of playing strength. Not like "points" in a video game, which are a reward for doing well. So if I want my rating to be useful (e.g. for quick pairing), I want it as accurate as possible. That means taking a draw when I don't feel I've earned the win.
if some loses connection at early phase of game whrere game is totally even it would kinda silly to assume opponent escaped and claiming draw is fine. You cannot buy anything with few extra points
