Who is the best now? Past world champions incuded Aronian, Svidler, So and Nakamura. So had taken Carlsen to the woodshed in one match, 21-2.5, I think.
And there is a big pro tournament this week.
The top 10 don't play enough 960 tournaments to know for sure. I watched the tournament today and yesterday, and accuracy in the opening phase was very low, tons of big swings. Many in the unfamiliar middlegames too. No single player including Magnus dominated. Re: players, the only really notable thing was how badly Ding got his ass kicked. I think he was 0-7 with one game left to go in the rapid round robin (its done now, dont know how he did though).

Ding is constantly up and down, mostly down recently. He has my respect for winning the WC.
In my opinion, So is great in 960

I remember after his 960 match with Carlsen 2 years ago, he said that he prefers 960 over the standard game.
I enjoy 960 myself, it has that middlegame feeling by move 3.
For me, one of the best chess 960 player is David Navara.
Hikaru is the most recent world champ at it
