Letting Time Run Out

Personally, I have been affected many times by players constantly
letting their time run out when they believe they have lost.
First, they offer a draw after you decline they disappear.
Sometimes the time is huge such as an hour or 50 minutes.

I believe there should be an option to claim victory or abort the game after 10 minutes.
As these players don't log off and they are active but just decide not to move.
They hope that the other player will eventually lose patience and resign.

Please take action on this issue.

Thank you
@HungryRaven There is a countdown after somebody leaves the game, then you can claim victory or a draw. It will say "Black left the game, White is victorious"
@learningchesskid3 Yes that's true but these players don't leave the game. They just sit there and wait
until the other player decides to resign or leave. So, the countdown never appears for the system they are still online.

They do not leave the game, they just do not move. So you cannot claim victory.
They even play another game, which lichess unfortunately allows.
Oh @HungryRaven In that case then you can start another game in another tab and show both tabs at once (alt bracket) and see if they move. You will still be considered online and will not have left the game.
#5 So you cheat on me, I cheat on you...
@learningchesskid3 Yes that's a good solution but I believe that it would be more convenient if there was
an option to even abort the game. As there always won't be a person sitting in front of their laptop waiting for the guy to move.
It's ok to resign in casual games but in rated games, it has really affected my rating.

So, I just hope lichess addresses this issue and adds the relevant feature required.
I've had many classical games here on lichess where I've had to think for longer than 10 mins, and it'd not be fair on many people who are actually there playing the game, but its just a complicated position where you have to think for a while, for them to only lose because they're suspected of leaving the game. I of course don't advocate for people leaving the game, and am against it, but I'm just pointing out a little flaw in ur idea
@pn2206 Yes that is totally acceptable but this situation is just so complicated that a solution that would
cater to everyone is not there. Maybe, the time limit can vary depending on the mode of the game. For example, bullet or Ultra bullet would require a smaller time limit as they are meant to make you think faster as compared to classical a 20-minute time limit would be sufficient for just one move.
