A couple of days of chess

It's silly I know, but I had a couple of long chess sessions on Lichess. I played continuously for hours. My rating fluctuated between1680 and 1920. Surely this can't be right., but it's what happened.

Strangely, I played better towards the end. There are some very good players on the sie.

I ensured I was back at 1800 before quitting. Quality over Quantinty . Mega sessions do not seem to be the best way of improving chess and ratings.
Playing chess is always a demanding task and playing good chess for several hours in a row would be a challenge even for a chess master. Very long sessions naturally cause your rating to fluctuate, as you can't expect your performance to remain unaffected by the great and long-lasting effort your mind has to face. As for the improvement you have experienced towards the end, that's not surprising either. Sometimes after you've stopped playing for a while, you become somewhat rusty and you need a few "warm-up" games before you can restart playing at the best of your skills. Anyway, long playing streaks may be a good method to test your resistance, which you could use to assess if you have really improved your chess skills after studying theory and training. Of course, don't do that in the extreme. Find a good balance between the need for training and the need for rest. Bye!
