Best Rating Rage for Rated Games

I don't play enough Rated games but what should the rating rage be?

Any suggestions about setting rating rages for rated games would be welcome.

How does the range influence the quality of the players I get paired with?

I feel a little shy about playing rated games. But don't know the how ratings system works (and I'm not sure I want to know,).

Anyway -- recommendations for setting rating range if you have a moment? Thanks for reading this.

Not urgent. Curiosity only. TY
That's your choice whether you prefer to play opponents of similar strength or rather stronger or weaker ones. Many source recommend to play stronger opponents in order to improve but obviously it's not possible for everyone to do that as the overall mean rating difference has to be zero.

BtW, it took me a while to realize that "rating rage" is supposed to be "rating range". :-)
Is there a way to play non rated game??
I thought i have to play only rated game and that require improvement after every game i.e. i have to analyze my game.

where to find unrated game?
A very general tip for all settings in all apps:
If you don't know what to set, leave it as it is.
I think is against lichess' rules to play always against weaker players so play also with players with a similar rating to yours

ARGH, my eyes...
You can just play vs the computer.
Set level at whatever cake or hell you want.
You can find a few "friends" near your level and play unrated games together to improve.
For example you guys can focus on Indian game, both sides of Petrov or open Sicilian.
Get 8 people and have a Ruy Lopez tournament.
Have a Nimzo Indian tournament that way you can work on it since some dodge it.
London tournament.

Yes, but I advice against this. There is less of an incentive to finish he game properly, and you lose absolutely nothing when playing rated. Having an established rating allows you to easily get similar rated opponents, which would be my choice anyway.

It's a myth that you need to learn from every single game. And you can learn from rated games as much as from unrated ones.

In the lobby with manual game seeks. But again, I think you would need a very good reason to play unrated, and there are not many good reasons around. And don't be afraid of losing rating, it will adjust quickly to "your level "again.

Thanks for your answer, I understand your viewpoint. i think i will stick with rated games only, as it helps me to think deeply. It's a plus point for me.
