Would love to see this made possible on this site...
It was my understanding this was chosen not to implement for cheater reasons. But at least make it possible to make a private tournament with invites only. As correspondence chess is already available, I can't see the harm in implementing it. The recruitment this would provide should far outweigh the cheater aspect of public tournaments.

Sure i could, I could also play as much correspondence as i want to already. But that is not the feature requested!
I was about to request this feature myself...
Additional rules might be necessary to make the tournament run better, such as:
1. allowing players to play more than one tournament game at once. Additionally, there could be a setting so that, at the beginning of the tournament, each player gets matched up with 6 other players to play simultaneously (not a problem in correspondence). Or, each player could choose how many games they wanted to play at once.
2. tournament would need to be 3-6 months long, even with a 1 day per move time control (!!!). This would necessarily make this a major Lichess event, since only 2-4 correspondence tournaments could occur in a year.
I really want this feature implemented!

No prize money. No women. Nothing except losing hours & hours of their time cheating online chess. It's crazy.
