IAF Council Election

Hi there!
I want to continue with the IAF, I've been a treasurer since the beginning.
Besides of that, I coach beginners, write my first anti book and act as a moderator in teams.
I'm starting a weekly blog where I cover important tournaments/events.

I'm one of the most famous c4 players, my strengths are tactical combinations and queen race.
Thanks for reading!

I would like to enter into the candidate pool and be considered for a council position.

I’ve dedicated many hours to the antichess community in the past and would like to again.

Hi all,

Firstly, a heartfelt thank you to all those who are standing for election and who are prepared to give up their time to help anti-chess grow.

Could someone please share the IAF charter mentioned by @bwmtone, or indicate where to find it? I believe many people would like to read it to better understand the implications of this election.

Additionally, I have a suggestion for the IAF council regarding the online ACWC.

The current version is in my opinion too time consuming. Indeed, a player who did not finish in the top 2 in previous editions needs to play 17 games to win, which means 17 weeks of play and 2 weeks of break, totaling 19 weeks. This extensive schedule requires significant time and effort, and players often struggle to stay motivated after poor results in the early stages of the qualification or Candidates tournament.

What do you think about a seeded knockout tournament format? In my opinion, it would make the tournament more enjoyable for the following reasons:

  • Every game matters: There would be no "useless" games between players who are already out of the tournament or those who are already qualified.
  • The tournament is still open to anybody from the antichess community
  • No result fixing: In the past, some players have intentionally drawn their games. In a knockout format, this wouldn't happen.
  • Easier broadcast: I tried to cover as many high-stakes matches from the 2022 editions on my Twitch channel, and it was often nearly impossible. A knockout format would result in fewer matches to cover, allowing us to broadcast all the final rounds (QF, SF, and Final, possibly R16). This would benefit the community.
  • Shorter tournament time: This is the biggest advantage, in my opinion. Several high-quality players I've spoken to do not participate due to a lack of personal time. A shorter tournament would attract more top players.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! If some candidates are interested in this, they will definitely have my vote !

Disclaimer : This is a mere suggestion to improve an already great tournament. I am by no means criticizing the wonderful work that has been done by the tournament directors over the past few years, I merely believe there is room for improvement.

Hi y'all, I thought I would just give a shot at being a IAF council member. I know I haven't been in the antichess community for as long as some of the other people here but I would still like to contribute in any way I can. I'm excited to see that the IAF is heading towards a more professional and serious direction, and I would like to be able to help out in that effort in any way I can. I just turned 18 recently so maybe the perspective of a younger player like myself can be of some use lol.

A knockout tournament is very interesting for lower rated players as they end up playing only one match. I've seen such cases happening with other WCs.

My suggestion, if everyone is fine with it, is to try out the format we used for BWC.
