Time ran out

A popup saying "lichess will restart" came up. I made a move the opponent's time ran out. Later it is shown that I lost on time? Lost 5 rating points:(

Very unfortunate. When the server goes down for restart your move is lost.

This is the exact reason for warnings in advance...

So that you don't play games in the middle of a restart.

But when you are playing anything faster than a blitz game, and the server announces a restart, there is no way to avoid playing in the middle of a restart. Even many blitz games will be subject to restart during the game. Typically we get maybe 5 to 9 minute warning. Not enough time.

And there must be a way to freeze the game, then announce "restart complete" and continue, without this ridiculous confusion about whose clock is running! I don't know if this is a difficult programming challenge, and maybe it is (probably) but this is in my experience the major, glaring bug on this site.

Today, just like a couple months ago, and just like a couple months before that, the game restarted, at some point (it was pretty quick and unclear that it had happened. Then I thought (I saw) my opponent's clock was running but apparently Lichess "thought" mine was running, so that I lost on time. Preposterous.

Thanks to all the people that make this site so incredible, though. I hope you can make this improvement some time.

It is unfortunate. Maybe due to lichess server restart.

What can i do .
Just after server restart i started my game
In between game the warning popped up.
I had no idea of this unfortunate event
