I feel that 120+30 on Lichess is just too slow. Many players leave games without resigning, making the Classical according to FIDE rules almost unplayable.
However, I also feel that Blitz and Rapid on Lichess are too fast-paced. For example, 10+60 would be Rapid according to FIDE, but it's Classical on Lichess. Looks like the Rapid on Lichess is actually Blitz for FIDE. My favorite time control is 10+60, I just hope Lichess would possibly make 10+60 and 10+30 Rapid instead of Classical?
Lichess isn't FIDE.

coudnt have said it better myself!
why are u playing 120+30 if u think it's too slow?. just play 30+0
I know what you mean, I keep challenging my girlfriend to chess and she left me too
The 2 preselects in the quick pairing section are 30+0 and 30+20 right? What's all this discussion about 120 +30? There are definitely faster options for classical.
10+60 has a huge increment that puts it in classical. For example after just 20 moves (which is a very low number) it's already slower than 30+0. 10+60 is slower than 30+0 and most of the time 30+10 or 20, so why would you want 10+60 to be rapid while the faster time control of 30+0 remains classical?

What psychopath plays with a whole minute of increment for each move?

Well, now you know
Don't play fide classical on lichess. A lot of people aren't serious and there are stallers. In lichess something like 75+30 is the max without getting too long. Around 30+0 is the classical norm (which I am not sure but might be rapid in fide). Here's a rough idea:
Fide Classical: Not recommended on lichess
Fide Rapid: Lichess Classical
Fide Blitz: Lichess Rapid
Lichess Blitz: Fide Blitz
Lichess Bullet: Doesn't exist in Fide.
The player pools are different and the systems are too (elo and glicko2) so time controls also vary :) Hope I could help
I started playing 60 + 30s, which is what is played at my local club. I create the game and usually someone joins in a few seconds. My main issue is that so far in just 6 games, 1 opponent kept repeating to play faster and left the game after the opening (I saw that later, I play in Zen mode ;). 2 times, my opponents misplayed the opening and decided to resign... I mean it's fine I'll take the win but I'll probably need to join a league to be able to train properly. As for the main question, just create a game and pick the time you prefer... I saw many players creating something like 0 min + 180 s which I find very interesting to make sure that you don't stare at your screen for 30 min without being sure if your opponent is no longer in front of his computer.
