I've already explained why it's reportedly there. And that's no secret, so far as I can see. (Although who knows what some hyperventilating political commentors could claim, as they toss red meat to their usual listeners).
It was built on a former airport that was reportedly constructed MANY, MANY years ago, so it was possible to create the facility quickly and for less cost.
Did somebody "make money" building it? Well, the military may have done a lot of the work, but I wouldn't be surprised if some private contractors were called in, too -- and perhaps some furniture (bunk beds, etc.) were purchased, but, if so, I must respond:
so what?
What public structures are EVER built with nobody "making money." I see no grounds to imagine that it's some grand conspiracy to gain vast wealth for shadowy figures. Furthermore, it was constructed very quickly -- so even if somebody charged a "pretty penny" per hour, it doesn't seem likely to create financial ruin for the state.
That's not surprising, either -- Trump and DeSantis (Florida's truly remarkable governor) seem to be known for the speed at which they can actually get something accomplished.
There is a TON of silly propaganda now, and there has been for several years. It's best that we don't go overboard with exaggeration and fear -- just think back to all the really silly propaganda we've ALREADY heard -- and that many passionately believed (and some STILL believe) that turned out not to be true.
Was America's southern border really "secure" over the last four years? Well, was it? Did our "border czar" make a huge, positive difference? During the last year, was Joe Biden really on the top of his game? Has Donald Trump crashed the stock market and thrown us all into ruin? Really? I could go on and on, but it's unlikely to persuade those who are determined to disagree.
And, given the vast array and variety of social and "news" media, we can all generally find somebody to tell us we are correct indeed!
