I choose the French defense!

18. ... Qе4, threatening to put the d5-d4 pawn in motion and introduce the Be6-d5 bishop into the game. 19. Qa7, other moves are not better, 19. ... d4! 20. Rfe1 ?? Rd2! + -
If White made a move 21. Rg1, then 21. ... Qg2 +! 22. Rg2 R d1 + 23. Rg1 Bd5 #
My move 7. .. Nf5?! is not accurate. This may be followed by White's move 8. g4 !?
@Vertonghen Because it is the best move in the position. e5 gang rise up!

Also, as a player who plays the Advance variation against the French, I don't really like f4.
Simply Nf3 is a good move to play for the win.

After 5.Nf3, Nc6 6.a3, 6.Be2 or 6.Bd3 (cool gambit) are good moves.

Black could try playing 5...Bd7 followed by 6...Bb5!? but that is good for white.
5...Bd7 6.Bd3, Bb5 7.dxc5! and white obtains a small advantage at least.
Nimzovich advocated 3 e5. However, neither 6 Bd3 nor 6 Be2 nor 6 a3 give white anything tangible.
