7-men TB not used here apparently. The starting position is a TB win. In principle, because: BB-N is ouside the scope of the 50-moves rule.
Sarg0n white:
Wow, well done
@Sarg0n! That was a tough endgame indeed, but you played it perfectly :D
Well played, but not perfectly. The starting position was a draw, but then black slipped 46...Nc6?, white with 47 Kc4?, black with 47...Na5+?, white with 48 Kc3?, black with 49...Ke5?, white with 52 Bh3?, black with 52...Kb6?, white with 68 Bd6?, black with 68...Nc5?. From then on play is perfect.
Thx. Actually I am not sure about move 44 but move 45 is a TB win in 70 moves. Can somebody confirm?
Oh wait! We have to be careful:
The position is „won“ but collides with the 50 moves, owing to BB-N which alone is >50 moves. A draw under the current rule-set.
No, it is not a draw. A draw is if in 50 moves there are no pawns moved and no pieces captured.
Yeah, but you can’t win a pawnless BB-N within 50 moves against ideal defense.
Fun fact: not very long ago it was even considered draw. Old guys like me know that...
@Sarg0n A bishop pair vs a lone knight is winning in theory of course. However, this position is NOT a bishop pair vs a lone knight. The knight has 2 connected passed pawns to assist in the defense.
I'm not 100% sure but I believe that black maybe can make a fortress with best play because. Stock 8 got a draw vs stock 8.
Either way nice finish!
