Tal or Nehzmedinov?

My favourite is Tal but Nezhmetdinov is far more ferocious than Tal with the white pieces.

Nezhmetdinov is a more of an artist and adventurer, then Tal. Tal is more of a sportsmen, therefore the results - Nezhmetdinov plays more daring and beautiful combinations, Tal gets better results overall. Tal is huge adventurer of course compared to rest of the world:)

Nezhmetdinov played only 3 tournaments abroad and playing abroad was in that time necessary for a title.
He was of super grandmaster strength by any means.

@tpr I agree with you but he created the best of combinations mostly with the the white pieces. Nezhmetdinov is far better than Tal.(according to my thoughts)

The difference between the two players is perhaps revealed by the following.

Averbakh is quoted as saying "Nezhmetdinov, ... if he had the attack, could kill anybody, including Tal. But my score against him was something like 8½–½ because I did not give him any possibility for an active game. In such cases he would immediately start to spoil his position because he was looking for complications."

As Tal matured he gained a command of positional play too and was capable of grinding out wins as well as producing fireworks. Even against Karpov in his prime, his score of +0−1=19 shows he could hold his own in classical games.

Nezh certainly played some spectacular games...but he was not nearly so well-rounded a player as Tal (who could dish out his share of spectacle as well).
