'The International Criminal Court (ICC) investigates and, where warranted, tries individuals charged with the gravest crimes of concern to the international community: genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression. As a court of last resort, it seeks to complement, not replace, national Courts. Governed by an international treaty called the Rome Statute,'

Big problem: the United States, Russia, China, India, Israel do not recognize the ICC.
The United States even intimidates judges of the ICC.

yes the US has a long history of threatening UN officials. John Bolton threatened the children of the head of the OPCW when he refused to agree with the US that Iraq had chemical wmd's, and refused US demans to resign. The US is the only country in the world that threatens to use military force to free any US citizen detained for war crimes by the ICC.

the US
? or trump? or bolton? or mainly republicans?
and, well, iraq was a serious war, so tempers rise under pressure, maybe too.
however.
US is in the UN though, and those other countries.
so, there's hope that international law, treaties, conventions, icc, icj, statutes, are at least not always all futile.
agreed that there's huge problems.
the UN and all of those agreements do have played a role sometimes nonetheless, so, who knows what the condition of the world and mankind would be in without international communication and efforts for peace & justice & humaneness and such institutions, ..would be in

@ all
The ICC is merely a political circus court designed to bring to "justice" those that represent an opposing world view of predominantly "western european liberal democracies." This would be like Russia, China, and N Korea teaming up to create their own circus court and investigate how US companies destroy culture and property in African and Asian countries. It's all nonsense!!
Just to be clear, it's not nonsense because crimes aren't being committed. It's nonsense because of the hypocrisy of calling some other country out on crime while ignoring one's own cultural crimes.

ICC was created in 2002. Since then the US has had four presidents, two republicans and two democrats. None of them tried to join. So no, it's not just Trump and it's not just the republicans either.

I see the "if you're not with us ypu're against us" mentality has not evolved. Typically USian mix of arrogance and fragility.

It's hypocrisy to use the ICC as a tool to denigrate one opponent while simultaneously clearly holding them with no authority.
Also I'm not from the US, I'm from Monteserrat, nice immediate ad hominem though - I know to disregard your posts in the future now, as if someone who doesn't play and made their acct 4 days ago isn't sus enough already.
