Why does Lichess no longer load on Firefox?

Mine cleared up after I had firefox delete all its cached files.

I had the same problem a few days ago with Firefox on my main computer, though not on a second computer. Deleting the Lichess cookie made no difference, but after deleting ALL cookies, I was able to use Lichess with Firefox on my main computer again without any problems. I have no idea which cookie could have caused the problem.

That's too bad as I don't want to delete my cookies. Isn't that kind of the point of cookies in the first place?

Deleting cookies usually isn't a problem. You might need to redefine the settings on some websites, but that's probably all there is to it.

I thought cookies were like, user name and password memorized on computer so you don't have to re enter every time...is that not the case?

I deleted cached files for all sites, but not cookies for any site. I didn't want to have to re-enter my passwords. That was enough.

For the records, if you are using Firefox you can easily see what Lichess is storing and easily delete it.

While you display a Lichess page, go to Firefox Developer Tools (Ctrl Shift I ... or F12)
Find the tab called Storage
You'll see cookies there.

Personally, I never had to delete anything ...

Not like that. When used by a site to "remember you", only a session id is saved in a cookie so that you don't have to log in as long as the cookie does not expire. The worst that can happen after deleting cookies is that you'll have to login again (once) on such sites.

Remembered passwords have nothing to do with cookies, that's a password manager integrated into your browser.
