Hello, I am loving trying to learn chess but struggling constantly making stupid mistakes, I like playing 5 or 10 min games, I played 5 games earlier which you can probably see I resigned a few after making stupid mistakes after 8-10 moves I should play on I know.
Anyway in the last game I was very happy to get a draw as I managed to not make any stupid mistakes and my opponent was obviously better than me.
my question is , are there any tips people have for dealing with queen/knight attacks on the rooks in the early part of the game, especially avoiding forking of the king and the rook.

First of all try to play games with longer time control e.g. 10 min or 5 minutes + 8 seconds increment. That gives you time to avoid blunders.
Second, try not to play your queen early on. Play 1-2 pawn moves, then develop the knights, then the bishops, then try to castle to connect your rooks, only then think about queen moves.

OP- I was in your shoes this time last year (joined lichess after i had played for about two months):
when your opponent brings down their queen early, just look for what their attack is-usually your f pawn. Attack their queen by developing your knights and bishops
don't be afraid of losing a pawn or two, sometimes its best to forget about recapturing and focus on a different goal. I have won many games down material or in a losing position.
try not block your development with other pieces. I just looked at a game of yours where your dark squared bishop blocked your d-pawn. -usually you want your d and e pawns (the two middle ones) in the middle of the board, generally speaking.
Try to castle early, in fact for a long time I focussed on castling as fast as possible. Occasionally its the wrong goal but usually for a beginner it is a great goal- and don't move the pawns in front of your castled king unless necessary, or it's the endgame.
When a queen and bishop or queen and knight come out early, it usually means one of 2 or three things (scholar's mate, some kind of knight fork)- I watched videos on fast checkmates to try to avoid them.
Analyze every game using the "requets a computer analysis-you will see the types of moves that are simply terrible, and you will see why they eventually lose games for you

New players need much more time than 5 or 10 mins. Play like 15 mins plus some increment, at least. The more time the better. You're gonna learn faster and better by playing slow games.
As to the forks, they're part of the learning process. The more forks you get the better. ;-)
Thanks for your reply,I like the shorter games as seem's easier to cheat in longer games , I will play some 10 minute'ers see how it goes, I'm the one going to be doing the forking from now on hopefully, I love chess!!
It *is* easier to cheat in longer games – true. But that's how you get better, though.
If someone cheats in his games, then he won't be rated 1000-1500 (which seems to be your/your opponents level) but rather 2500-3000. ;)
Generally it's a bad idea to be too worried about cheaters.
1. The great majority isn't cheating.
2. Even if you opponent is cheating, worrying about it won't make it better. Just try to play your best.
And I agree, play slow games. Especially as new player you need the time to get used to the game.
They can cheat just fine in 5 and 10 min games also. Why would you even think it is harder for people to cheat when it comes to longer games?
if you want to improve in chess then stop playing fast chess. Google what the best chess players thought about it.
