ratings dwz-elo-lichess

Hi Guys,

I recognized Lichess Rating is above Elo Rating and read the difference is ~300.

I was 1700 DWZ when I stopped playing like 9 years ago. I feel like i have gotten better but my lichess is "only" ~1900 rapid ~2000 classic.

What would you think I rate in ELO?

For the Germans that played international tournaments:

Is your DWZ and ELO the same or is there a difference?

Cheers,
Jonas
Hey Jonas,

your question pops up frequently and if you search through the discussion board you will find a lot of similar answered topics.
I think it is not possible to compare online ratings to OTB - it depends.
Depends on the time control you play and how frequently you play.
It also matters how comfortable you are playing face to face on 3D-Board compared to anonymous play online on a 2DBoard.

My DWZ is 100 points lower than my ELO; it is a pretty common difference by the way, since many of my real life clubmates are having same difference.

Hope it helps. :-)
Actually my DWZ is higher than my current Elo which is pretty uncommon^^.

My DWZ peak was 2188 in 2019 by the way.
Funkmaus is right, ELO usually is about DWZ +100.
Difference between rapid Lichess rating and ELO is not around 300, it is far less, IMO.
My DWZ is about 70 points higher than my Elo. ^^

Well, played a good league season, but those games weren't FIDE-rated... I guess the Elo always kinda lags behind in time...
It depends too on the level. Around 23xx Elo and DWZ approach. iirc it turned somewhere and what was right for the better club players and wrong for IM up.

Anyway it's an individual case everytime with an over all trend. Never forget: Ratings measure the former performance in past events. Nothing more, nothing less. A nice lady in a forum had the remark in her profile: You don't play with your rating. You play with your head. ;)
I think it vastly depends on how you play, because people online play differently than people OTB. Shorter time control means you get away with more dubious stuff that makes your opponent think a lot. I'm 1750 DWZ and 2230 blitz and about 2100 rapid for example, but I would never claim to be that good over the board.
