When I was a kid, on Sunday mornings after I woke up, I ran outside wearing shorts and t-shirt in 20ºF to retrieve the heavy Sunday edition ftom the driveway.
Priority #2.
Read the comics.
Far Side, Peanuts, Doonesbury, B.C.
OMGGGG
certainly I remember damn... that was the best time in the morning.
I just flipped over the page to the comic section and there were so many comic strips.
best time was Sunday, because at that time full 1-2 paper is of comic, unlike week days, with few strips.
omg that was awesome, just sit under sun and read it with a tea.
Garfield, peanut , Calvin and Hobbes etc
also the best time was spent to see what movies will come today
all schedule was given in that , (after covid and OTT rise, it became less)
and when we saw harry potter , that was our first time we watched harry potter
and because of that that, we watched harry potter movie 2 , chamber of secret, not philosopher stone lol
that was our first HP movie lol
and also, I love to read sun sign lol, there was a small column for that.lol

Some cartoons like Peanuts (with Snoopy) had got started in newspapers. Newspapers were a daily printed publication in a giant physical format (16" x 20" or 40cm x 50cm) that were sold to the public in a neatly double folded edition that could be easily carried by hand.
Newspapers 20 years ago or earlier often included a comics page that had series of daily stories about a group of characters. Each "comic strip" series had a style like humorous or dramatic. Most of them tended to be humorous. Each daily comic strip story was usually 4 "cells" or frames long. If it was comedy, there might be a punch line in the last cell.

Oh yes, The Broons (about the daily life of a large, working-class family in Glasgow) and Oor Wullie (about, well, a boy called Wullie and his gang of pals) in a Scottish newspaper called The Sunday Post. Because of those strips I always made sure to get my hands on the papers before anyone else did :)
