this is hilarious. the exact same thing is on another forum!
and no, CC isnt better. it's worse if ur a basic member. everything(except games I guess) are behind paywalls and paying $100 on things that already exist free and forever here makes no sense and I would consider that a waste of money. instead I would invest that in a private chess coach, to be honest or just donate to what already is a great chess site(here).
Well, it kind of depends on what you are looking for. They both play chess fine in their respective setups, though chess.com has had a lot of instability lately. That alone could be a game breaker for some.

Chess.com has more variants, though pointlessly locks many things behind a paywall that you can get free elsewhere which is dubious. Thus I would agree that a chess.com subscription is a waste, lol! Lichess has said free nearly everything that gets paywalled over there, including studies, videos and puzzles. Plus a few unique modes and features of its own.

So it's probably more personal preference. That being said, it's probably better to just encourage your friend to try out the stuff here to judge for themself. Sometimes one is naturally picked over the other or people have an account at each to get the best of both worlds. But if you get too pushy, that can put one off from trying things over here.
