The IAF is pleased to announce the LiAntichess World Cup 2025, which will follow the same format as the Antichess World Cup, but the time control will be 1+2 instead of 2+5.

Please note the following exceptions to the rules:

The Tournament directors are: @cFlour @ChangeOpening
You have to have played 1000 rated games of Antichess on lichess in order to register (on whichever account you are registering).
Account age restriction: The account should be made on or before 1 July 2024. Exceptions might be made on a case-by-case basis.
The timecontrol is 1+2.
The previous year's finalists will not have direct qualification to the candidates stage. Hence the Candidates groups will be according to rule III.F.2.iii
If your opponent has not replied to your initial offer (your initial offer must follow the rules of match negotiations as specified, or you can't declare a match timing) by the Friday of the week (23:59 UTC on the Friday), please send a screenshot of your scheduling offers to a TD, and declare a time on which the match must happen. If your opponent doesn't show up, you can claim a victory.
Regarding rule VI.C: If a player is offline after 10 minutes of the scheduled time, wait for 10 more minutes. This will count as the opponent's break, and if the opponent arrives within this timeframe, the match can be played; but your opponent cannot call a break.
The seeding will take into account a lot of factors, which will be published soon.
The tournament director can make changes later.

Regarding the tiebreaks: I will check if it is possible to implement the tiebreaks as specified in the rules (if anybody has a way to do this, please message me). If this is not possible, the tiebreaks will be:

Median Buchholz
Match Wins
Wins vs Tied Participants
The tiebreaks will be confirmed soon.

The registrations are open up to January 13th, 23:59 UTC. The tournament will start on January 15th.
