play classical and take your time and try calculating not only good moves for you, but good moves for your opponent

dont worry about losing on time, when you are trying to improve, especially if you are a beginner i think its much better to take your time, play well and lose on time than either win or lose in a blunderfest.

Take your time, play your best chess, ratings and results will come eventually, they arent important at the moment.
