That is false and untrue, the football of the older days especially in the 80's was much more physical and more competitive as opposed to now where you can get a red card for just about any slightly strong foul. So this is a bad argument. Maradona and Pele are universally regarded as the two GOATS and until messi and/or ronaldo win the world cup that will remain the same

And in football the actual debate is Pele vs Fritz and I weigh in for former.
