Becoming a national champion U2000 (Part 2)

The very idea of a under 2000 champion is so funny to me. Its like saying you are the best mediocre player in chess.

If we ignore the obvious caveat that these comments always come from people who can't even move the pieces properly yet...let's discuss facts:

You are aware that FIDE and Continental Associations all have championships split by rating categories, for example World U2300 Champion, World U2000 Champion, and World U1700 Champion are not only valid awards, but they also lead to Direct Titles? Within the amateur chess ranks, players can't afford to compete with professional players, and it's quite stimulating to have separate rankings and awards to encourage participation.

Signed,
One of the best mediocre chess players in my country

FIrst of all huge congratulations Vlad! Great blog and great games as well!

Secondly, @apqrs you realize that being 2000 OTB is the equivalent to "chess expert" . So not only your comments are bitter, they're just ignorant as well. I'll suggest that you should work on your chess and your personality as well.

Congratulations Vlad! Winning a section at any tournament is not easy, let alone a national championship with that kind of format. Great blog - many don't include as many of the "away from the board" details which gives us a more complete picture of the event vs. only focusing on the mechanics of the games. Looking forward to seeing future chapters of your journey!
