Vote on a new chess mode you want or an existing mode.

How about this one:

1. The King is a normal piece like any other.
2. There are no checks or checkmate.
3. Winner is the first player to promote a pawn.

Call it "Promotion Chess" or something.

@third_rank lishogi.org already exists. It’s a place to play Shogi (Japanese chess, for those who don’t know). The good thing about lishogi is that it’s growing as a site. Today I checked - 165 players online. That makes me happy considering in early 2021 it had <50 online usually. I sincerely hope that lishogi continues to grow. Kind of want to switch to shogi after I hit 2000 classical on here, just to try something different.

My vote is for Seirawan Chess. Seirawan chess introduces two new pieces, elephant (rook + knight combo) and hawk (bishop + knight combo). It’s a pretty fun variant, that I’m sure would have a following here on lichess. I doubt it will ever happen though. One can play it on pychess.org, but that site has a very small community (<30 players online usually).
@ george_mcgeorge That's a song actually in the Locrian mode (figures the guy who made that reference would close his account on me!).

+1 for Chinese chess/ Xiangqi. It's a really fun game, and easy to learn if you already know standard chess rules. I've yet to find an online platform for it that supports English and I'd love to introduce my friends to the game.
