I resign in lost position and get a '...letting time run out will ...ban' message ? What?

I play a game, I blunder under pressure of a strong opponent, I resign. and see then in the 'chat room' box:

"Warning, ahklnort. Letting time run out instead of resigning will result in a temporary ban."

What do you mean ? One of the rare bugs here ?

Thank you for all your effort :)
Could you link the game?
I might be able to have a look and send it to a moderator to ask why it happened?
No, it's not a bug, it's just an automated warning, afaik. Nothing to be worrying about. It comes when you let your clock run, even if you resign. Only if you do it too often you risk getting banned.
Ok, wanted to maintain respect for my opp. (Thumbs up)
Yeah, it is unusual, but usually Lichess is spot on telling you what you did wrong, whether its letting the clock run down or losing games on purpose, probably not a bug, just a line of code that auto enters that response when you resign below a certain time. You won't be banned or restricted so as @chesseater78 says, nothing to worry about. I get the match aborted message sometimes when i don't have time to start another match, nothing happens unless you do it conistently, and even then your temporary ban that you recieve if you do it too often will always be looked at by a human moderator and you have an appeal aswell.
